Lacey and Jared: Engagements

I had a blast with Lacey and Jared this last Saturday. I mean, how could I not? These two are so much fun, they’ve got great style, and they’re gorgeous. What more could I want?
Lacey definitely falls into the category of my ‘tough winter brides’. It was 45 degrees, slightly breezy, and she was sporting her sexy, sleeveless red dress without any complaints. And, if I do say so myself, it was totally worth it. She and Jared looked amazing in both of their ensembles. Very classy and very fashionable. I can’t wait for their wedding that’s coming up on December 22nd!

Natalie, Mike, Crew, and Raleigh

I always look forward to taking my friend Natalie’s annual family portrait. Crew and Raleigh always make sure that I’m on top of my game. These little studs are spunky and energetic, with awesome expressions. Their mom sure knows how to dress ‘em! Natalie has always had impeccable taste in clothing. It’s also fun to see if I can get Mike to smile…but it’s usually the boys who are the best at that.
I was excited when Natalie suggested this location because I’ve driven by it tons of times and have wanted to shoot there, but never found the right opportunity. Thanks Nat, for another great year!

Use Only As Needed — Film Stills

This last weekend, I went to LA to shoot some film stills for Nick’s film called ‘Use Only As Needed’. You might recognize Nick and Corbin from the stills I took of Flower Girl in September. How could I resist an all-night shoot Friday and then another one all Saturday afternoon?
This film is about a man who has super-sensitive hearing and he gets a remote that helps him out with his little dilemma. I can’t wait to see the finished product! It’s always fun to be a part of these projects, especially because of the awesome people that I’ve met and come to know.
P.S. These aren’t in order according to the plot line, just how they were filmed…

Park City Cabin
Hi everyone. This post is two-fold in purpose. I have a bride who is getting married on December 19th. Her family owns a cabin up in Park City and she wanted to do a trade. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a need for staying at a beautiful cabin. The problem is that she won’t be able to book me without the trade because money is tight.
I thought I’d just throw this out there in case there is anyone who is interested in spending 1 or more nights up in Park City. You’d just need to book it 2 weeks in advance of when you want to stay. It’s $599/night. This could be an awesome Christmas present to give to your spouse, especially if you love to ski
You will be getting a fantastic present for your family/spouse and you’d be helping out a bride in need. Let me know if you’re interested!

Ana Maria and Ryan Engagements

I was so excited when Ryan called me up to let me in on his secret plans to give Ana Maria her ring and ‘officially’ propose. We went to Liberty Park and walked over to a location I scouted out before they arrived. Then, I told Ryan that I needed a new flash card for my camera and asked if he’d grab it from my car. I then proceeded to take photos of the unsuspecting Ana Maria who almost spoiled the surprise a few times by turning around. But he was able to walk behind her, surprise her with a dozen roses and give her a gorgeous ring. What a special moment to be a part of!
After spending a little more time at the park, we headed off to some amazing locations. The first one I cannot take credit for because my friend Natalie thought of it when we were planning a photo shoot that never happened. When Ana Maria and Ryan told me they wanted something different, I knew that George’s Architectural Salvage would be perfect. The piles of sinks, old bathtubs lying around, and random junk were even more fun to use than I imagined.
We raced out to the Great Salt Lake before the sun set and captured some great moments. I loved how they were willing to lay in the salt and play in the water. Ryan and Ana Maria are both ballroom dancers so I made sure to have them show off some of their moves. I apologize there are a lot of photos in this post….since we went to so many locations, it was next to impossible to narrow it down any more than I did. Hope you enjoy!

Konnie, Doug, Brooklyn, and Ryan

The last time I saw this bunch was when Brooklyn (I’m probably spelling her name wrong) was barely starting to stand, long before Ryan was around. But, regardless of the last time I saw them, Brooklyn acted like we were best friends. It was seriously another perfect fall day this past Saturday at Memory Grove. There were at least 5 other photographers there. I couldn’t blame them, though. The leaves were still full of vibrant colors, making a picturesque backdrop. And, even though Ryan didn’t appreciate being told what to do, we still got some great shots of him with his sister and parents.
I loved catching up and seeing how your beautiful family has grown! Thanks Konnie

Remember the house…
Remember the house that was burned down and I wanted to do a photo shoot there? Well, the shoot fell through and then they boarded up all the entrances
But, I did get a hold of the man who is selling it. Turns out, it was his mother’s and it was a boarding home. Apparently one of the kids started the fire because of carelessness with incense. They didn’t have fire insurance, which is why it ended up being abandoned.
They would love to sell it and have someone restore it, but all the offers have fallen through at the last minute. He said they even went as low as $179k (and it’s gotta be worth at least $500k). I just thought I’d throw it out there, if anyone’s looking for some land to buy, this one is incredible. And, did I mention they’re going to be demolishing it any day now? That just broke my heart
Call this number 801-455-5722 if you want to buy and therefore save this beautiful home.
It Starts Now
I don’t know about all of you, but I’m not the greatest at keeping my New Year’s Resolutions. I always have a LONG list of things to improve and work on, and rarely do I follow through on them for more than a week or two. It can get discouraging at times…..
Because of knee problems, stress, and no discipline, I am out of shape and not happy with how I look. So, it starts now! (it really started yesterday but I wasn’t able to blog about it then) No more candy or desserts. It sounds simple enough, but with how I’ve been eating lately, it’s going to take A LOT of willpower. I am going to allow myself one treat on one day of the week to help keep my sanity. I’m hoping to ride my bike more and hopefully start running if my knee can take it. BUT, the no sugar thing is first and foremost.
What are ways that you guys keep in shape or keep yourself healthy and fit? Anyone have any great healthy food recipes to share?
